Punjab toil as Bengal batsmen make merry

Amritsar, Openers Abhishek Raman and Abhimanyu Easwaran struck centuries to dominate the proceedings against hosts Punjab on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy Group D encounter.
In reply to Punjab’s 147, Bengal reached 309/3 at stumps with left-handed Raman unbeaten on 149 and Easwaran scoring a patient 117. The duo added 222 runs for the opening stand to give the visitors a healthy lead of 162 runs.
Raman hit 15 boundaries and a six in his 286-ball knock to score his maiden century of this season. Easwaran showed enormous patience in playing 215 balls with 11 boundaries and a six.
For Punjab, Siddarth Kaul (2/84) was the most successful bowler with two wickets. Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh (0/69) went wicketless.
