Chandigarh, With a view to impart need based skill education and training, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal proposed to setup special university dedicated to skill development in the state to provide skilled manpower to the industry. He also assured fast track approvals to private players interested in setting up such higher institute in state.
In a meeting with IL&FS education and technology services, Mr. Badal informed that Punjab was focusing on to equip the youth with latest skill education and training so that they could avail vast employment opportunities in industrial sector. He said that availability of skilled manpower is critical so as to achieve and sustain high growth in the coming decades.
Stressing on the need to develop quality education nurseries in border areas, Mr. Badal said that Punjab government could offer cross subsidy and other such measures to attract more and more private institutions to become partner in imparting free quality education in border area schools.
Assuring full support from the state Deputy CM stressed that government, industry and educational trainers should work together on need based skill development. He gave a clarion call to private players to play a constructive role in this direction. Appreciating the initiatives of state government to impart skill education, the IL&FS representatives offered to establish skill development centers and provide courses on the demand of industry. They also promised to help in designing the syllabi for professional and skill courses according to needs of industry.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Mr. N.K. Sharma Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal Chief Secretary, Mr C. Roul Principal Secretary School Education and Rakesh Verma Secretary Governance Reforms.
