Daljit-Singh-Cheema* ALL DISTRICTS TO HOLD CAREER GUIDANCE COUNSELLING IN A PHASED MANNER

CHANDIGARH, MAY 26: The Punjab Education Department has decided to provide professional guidance to students from Class 10th to Class 12th and help them to choose right career according to their aptitude.

Disclosing this here today Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, said that it was felt that students due to lack of guidance and counselling get sucked in a career for which they do not have aptitude and they waste their education and life while pursuing wrong careers. He said that while interacting the students he felt that students from class X to XII needed professional counsellors, who could determine their aptitude adopting scientific and psychological tools and guide them to choose a career for according to their aptitude and strength.

Dr. Cheema said that counselling would be organised in all districts and first phase of counselling would be inaugurated by him in Ludhiana tomorrow. He appealed to the parents to take active interest in the counselling exercise and bring their wards for counselling. He said that keeping in view greater rush during next three months these centers would work in all district headquarters 24X7 and he has asked DEOs to setup separate helpline district wise to ensure easy access of every student to counselling students.
