Punjab to demand review of tax holiday granted to neighboring states from center

* Cm to demand special industry package from center govt.
* Would open anganwari in every village’

Gohlewala (Talwandi Sabo), Punjab would soon impress upon the Central government for review of the tax holiday granted to neighboring states, which was proving to be detrimental for the growth of industry in state, said the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal while addressing media persons on the last leg of his two-day Sangat Darshan program in the Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency.

He said Punjab would take up the cudgels of cause for industry and besides demanding review of the special facilities granted to neighboring states, it would also ask for special package for the state’s industrial sector.

Mr. Badal said that it has been three months only since the NDA government has taken over the reins of country. “The Modi led NDA government is busy putting nation back on track of development where the Congress had miserably failed,” he said.

Interacting with the youngsters of village Gohlewala, Mr. Badal said there was urgent need to set up skill development centers so that the young people are imparted vocational skills and turn out to be industry ready professionals. He called upon youngsters to develop into entrepreneurs by adopting dairy and allied sectors that also generates employment.

Talking about the state government’s ambitious project in ensuring better child care and development, the Chief Minister said that government was introducing at least one anganwari in each village. Mr. Badal said that the officers have been asked to provide funds for setting up anganwari in all nearly 13000 villages of the state so that every child gets proper nutrition and care.

Besides this the government was also committed to provide drinking water in each village for which efforts were being done on war footing. He directed the public works department to work on people’s priority and fulfill the basic amenity of clean drinking water.

He added that the Sangat Darshan programs have heralded new chapter in good administration, wherein government feels the pulse of common man and solves the issue. “Sangat darshans are an open platform for people to come forward with their issues,” he said appealing people to bring their complaints at the sangat darshan programs.

Mr. Badal also directed the state officials to ensure that Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana was successfully implemented. He directed the state government officials to ensure that the bank account of each resident of Punjab is opened within a month’s time so that no one is bereft of the benefit Prime Minister’s ambitious scheme. He said that the Modi government has floated this scheme with an earnest desire to ensure that subsidies, pensions and other grants reach beneficiaries directly in their accounts. The accounts are opened free of cost and the account holder is provided Rs. 1 lac insurance cover without paying any premium.

Chief Minister’s Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema accompanied him during the Sangat Darshan in villages Manuana, Mirjeana, Kaureana, Kalalwala, Fatta Balu, Gohlewala and others. Prominent among others present included the area MLA Mr. Jeet Mohinder Sidhu, deputy commissioner Dr Basant Garg, SSP Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SAD press secretary Mr. Om Prakash Sharma and other.
