Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Sri Muktsar Sahib, Sep 4: The Union Minister for Food processing Industry, Government of India, Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the Punjab had straddled the horse of development only during the regime of SAD-BJP government. She said that the parties like Congress and AAP, which could not stay together, could not be expected to think good about Punjab.
She said this while interacting with media persons at village Maan, which she had adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. She said that in last 9 years the Punjab government has taken state to unprecedented heights of development and gave many big projects to the state, while the earlier Congress led UPA government ignored Punjab in all aspects. She added that in his term as the Chief Minister, Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh stopped all the developmental projects that SAD had initiated earlier and had even imposed power bills on the farmers.
Answering a media query she said that Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leaders have failed to live together and are fighting for personal gains. In such a scenario, Punjab or the people of Punjab are not their priority. She added that using wrong modes of publicity, the AAP formed its government in Delhi, which is now proving to be a big failure.
The Union Minister said that Punjab government has already ordered conducting survey of the fields affected due to white fly pest attack. The survey would be completed by Sep 25 so that the affected farmers could be given compensation well in time.
Earlier while addressing the gathering Union Minister Mrs badal said that Punjab government’s Jan Dhan Yojana, insurance and pensions schemes are all meant to uplift the poor section of society and ensure their financial inclusion in the main stream.
Talking to the villagers of Maan village said that besides marking remarkable development in infrastructure, the people of this village will also work towards each others overall development socially. She said that the social evils can be uprooted only with the efforts of people.
Ashe also reviewed the developmental works going on at village Maan. She distributed insurance policies to the women under Pradhan Manti Life Insurance Scheme. She added that these policies will form basis of the social and economic security of the women. She also initiated the drive of gifting 2 LED bulbs to each household to conserve power. Already the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has installed 50 solar street lights.
She also gifted the mosquito repellant spraying machine that will conduct fogging. It is pertinent to mention here that with the construction of toilets in every household, the village will soon be open defecation free. She also gifted a water tank to the village and inaugurated R plants at village’s primary school and sewing center. Under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign she distributed appreciation letters and gifts to the families wherein daughters were recently born.
Earlier under Nanhi Chhan she gave insurance policies to the women from village Chhota, Tapa Khera, Channu, Channu Purbi, Aspal etc.
