Punjab starts intensive cleanliness campaign swachh Bharat abhiyan

Chandigarh, Punjab today rolled out intensive cleanliness campaign Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan with all districts starting the week long campaign that will last from September 25 to October 2.

A unique initiative of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, aims to create mass awareness and inculcate lasting behavioral changes of maintaining hygiene in people.

For achieving the desired results, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal directed all the government officials to ensure that the guidelines of campaign are adhered to and its made a grass root movement. The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Badal said that the Punjab government was committed to maintain the cleanliness of state by leaving everlasting imprints on the minds of people of Punjab to make cleanliness a way of life.

He said that during the week long celebrations all the districts will undertake mass awareness exercises for cleaning work places, streets, roads, markets, railway stations, bus terminals, monuments, ponds, parks and other public places. All the urban local bodies have been directed to ensure that garbage from households and collection points is properly lifted and disposed to designated places. The program would continue till the culmination of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. The program is aimed at creating a clean india by 2019 with people’s participation.

The district administration of Ludhiana launched drive from Chander Nagar Bridge area, Bathinda launched drive at Paras Ram Nagar Chowk, Mansa started the drive from ward number 1, at Barnala it was launched from Ram Bagh Road, at Sri Muktsar Sahib it was launched from village Thande Wala, at Rupnagar it was launched at the office of zila parishad, at Fazilka it was started from office of the municipal council, at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar it was launched at the DC office, at Gurdaspur it was started from panchayat bhawan, at Kapurthala it was started from DC Chowk, at Fatehgarh Sahib it was started from village Badali Ala Singh, at Tarn Taran it was launched at Mohalla Muradpura, at Sangrur it was launched from the DC office, at Moga it was started from Dasmesh Nagar, and other districts to participated in the campaign enthusiastically.
