Chandigarh, The Punjab Government has released pending amount of Rs 149.53 crore for post matric scholarship scheme for the year 2013-14. This amount includes students’ maintenance allowance and fee of institutes/colleges.
Divulging the details, Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike, Welfare Minister said that Rs. 10.98 crore has been disbursed to medical colleges, Rs. 74.92 crore to technical institutes, Rs. 40.85 crore to D.P.I. (colleges), Rs. 15.66 crore to D.P.I. (school), Rs. 2.78 crore to Director Technical education I.T.I. and Rs. 4.34 crore to S.C.E.R.T/other states. He said that till date there was no financial pendency with the welfare department for session 2013-14.
He said that during session 2013-14, Punjab Government has disbursed total Rs. 327 crore to 2,18,323 students as maintenance allowance. Total 4190 different institutes are the part of post matric scholarship scheme.
It is pertinent to mention here that for the current session 2014-15, Punjab has received Rs. 149.67 crore in advance and online registration figure for the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme touched record number of 2,97,344. Meanwhile, Secretary Welfare Mrs. Seema Jain informed that the various departments were verifying and evaluating online submitted application so the release of payments could be made accordingly.
