In a major breakthrough, the organized crime control unit (OCCU) of Punjab Police has solved the sensational murder of Darbara Singh Seona (r/o 21 No. Phatak Road, Patiala) who was shot dead on 12-09-2008 by unknown assailants. A case of murder was registered in Police Station Civil Lines, Patiala city in this regard.
Disclosing this here today Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, IGP Intelligence(OCCU) informed that for the past ten years investigation in the case had been conducted by various units of Punjab Police. Since the case was undected until now, OCCU team took over the investigation which was supervised by AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and AIG Sandeep Goel.
He told that investigation in the case was conducted by the OCCU wing. The victim Darbara Singh was a Punjabi columnist and General Secretary of Shrimoni Akali Dal International. During the investigation, the OCCU team found that the motive behind the murder was a family dispute. Since Darbara Singh Seona had written a controversial article in a vernacular newspaper, prior investigations suspected the involvement of some radicals elements in his murder. However, all the investigations carried out by local Police and all the SITs constituted from time to time were non conclusive and untraced report was submitted in the hon’ble Court which had ordered further investigation in the case. Thereafter, the investigation was being conducted by OCCU team.
Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh further stated that two suspects Daljit Singh @ D.L. s/o Megh Singh r/o H.no 51, Gurmat Colony Sullar road Patiala and Pushpinder Singh Tau s/o Mehal Singh R/O Vill Nimnabad PS Safidon Distt Jind Haryana now r/o ward no 7 Khanouri Mandi PS Khanouri Distt Sangrur, were intensively questioned in this case who confessed the crime and revealed the names of other culprits including Amanpreet singh @ Jeeta Jalandhrea s/o Jatinder Singh r/o Near Prince Plaza Mithupur road Jalandhar, who is a proclaimed offender and a notorious gangster. It is pertinent to mention here that the culprits figured during the investigation also have a past criminal record including those of murder, attempt to murder, etc.
Kunwar also said that further investigation in this case is being carried out and efforts are being made to nab the remaining culprits.
