Phagwara, Punjab Police has issued a notice to Sukhvinder Kaur, who otherwise goes by the name Radhe Maa, directing her to join investigations after a local accused her of “obscenity, vulgarity and “hurting his religious sentiments”, police officers on Sunday.
The notice was served to Kaur in Mumbai on Saturday.
Surinder Mittal, former district president of VHP, had approached police 10 days ago, accusing Kaur of trying to bribe, threaten, torture and seduce him as well as hurting his religious sentiments, the police said.
In his complaint, Mittal also wanted Kaur’s sister, who goes by the name Rajjo Maasi, her daughter-in-law Megha, her close associate Ritu Sareen, who goes by Chhotti Maa and her follower, Sanjeev Gupta from Mumbai, they said.
Mittal has also recorded telephonic conversations with Kaur and in April last and printouts of WhatsApp messages from their mobile phones and that of her daughter-in-law.
He also claimed he was threatened after he refused money.
“She is falsely claiming herself as incarnation of goddess” and was hurting religious sentiments and spreading obscenity, the complaint said.
The SSP had marked the complaint to Phagwara police, which, after perusing it, sent a notice.
Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon confirmed the development, adding that it was only a notice and not summons.
“No summons were sent to her and no case was yet registered against her. She has only been asked to join the investigations,” said Dhillon.
