Punjab MLA Warring is Youth Cong chief

New Delhi, Punjab MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Warring was yesterday declared as the new president of the Indian Youth Congress. He comes in place of Rajiv Satav, Congress MP from Maharashtra, whose term ended some time ago.
“Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved the name of Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as president of the Indian Youth Congress with immediate effect,” party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said in a statement.

Considered close to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Warring represents the Giddarbah constituency in the Punjab Assembly. He had held many positions in the Youth Congress. He takes the pride to have been picked up by Rahul and contest the Assembly polls despite having no political lineage.
Warring was one of the few youth leaders to have been asked to address the AICC session at Jaipur in January where Rahul Gandhi was elected second-in-command.
Warring emphasises he and people like him with little or no big-time political support can break ranks only due to Rahul Gandhi’s insistence of fielding those who demonstrated work in the Youth Congress.
He will be the third leader from Punjab after Maninderjit Singh Bitta and Manish Tewari to occupy the post.
