Punjab Minister Joshi demands judicial probe into attack on his brother

Chandigarh,The embittered Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi  today demanded judicial probe into the attack on his brother Raja Joshi yesterday at Tarn Taran by the Akali Dal activists. He said he had urged his party leaders to review the alliance with the Akali Dal.

He blamed Chief Parliamentary Secretary Harmit Singh Sandhu for the attack.

Addressing a news conference here, he said in case any harm came to his family, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and other Akali leaders would be responsible.

It may be mentioned that the Akali Dal activists attacked Raja Joshi and his associates in the Tarn Taran DC office complex yesterday in police presence. Joshi released the footage of the incident showing Akali workers opening fire.

The clash took place over the issue relating to municipal elections.

Replying to a question as to why he had not resigned in protest, he said he had apprised state party chief Kamal Sharma and would be meeting Amit Shah. He said there was no point in continuing the alliance in case the BJP leaders were to be treated like this and humiliated.

Meanwhile, Sharma has summoned party’s core group meeting tomorrow to discuss the situation arising out of the Tarn Taran incident.

When asked why he had not resigned to show his resentment the minister said he had taken up the matter with the party chief in Punjab Kamal Sharma and he will be meeting Amit Shah as well. He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to take strong note of the incident.
