* COMPOSITE TENDERS INCLUDE 10 YEAR MAINTENANCE BY THE CONTRACTORS

CHANDIGARH, MAY 28: The Punjab Government today set in motion the plan to initiate Composite Development of all cities in one go within next one and half years by initiating this exercise from holy city Amritsar and historic city Bathinda by floating Rs. 400 crore composite tenders.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Anil Joshi, Local Government Minister said that the composite tenders include upgrading water supply, main sewer, lateral sewer, overhead tanks, arterial roads, state-of-the-art street lights, pumping stations and connecting all houses with water and sewer connections. Mr. Joshi said that it was for the first time that contractor would be responsible for maintenance of infrastructure for next 10 years. He said that besides this the company would be also responsible for operation, management and maintenance of Sewerage Treatment Plants in the cities. The companies have been mandated to install power saving low cost, high potential sewerage treatment plants.
Giving the details of Sewerage Treatment Plants Mr. Joshi said that these tenders were the biggest tenders given by Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Bathinda would have 4.5 MLD sewerage treatment plant. He said that composite tenders have been allotted to internationally reputed firms Paloonji and Triveni Engineering and council of Ministers has already approved composite tenders for two cities.
Promising Ache Din to the residents of Punjab, Mr. Joshi said that Punjabis whether in Urban or Rural areas are set to enjoy fruits of integrated infrastructure development in next one and half year.
