Chandigarh August 27: The Green Energy State Punjab today took a novel and innovative step of making every SC family part of Solar Power revolution by offering solar inverter to them at 66% subsidy.
According to an official spokesman the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has offered a subsidised Power Pack to the scheduled castes in the state enabling them to avail 66% subsidy on solar inverters.
He said that the Solar Inverter Kit consists of 300 Watts Solar Panel, 12 Volt-150 AH Gel Battery and 500 VA Inverter would be given to the persons belonging to the under privileged sections of the society. He said that total cost of the Solar Inverter Kit would be Rs. 51040 while after subsidy it would be available to them at a cost of Rs. 17290 inclusive of upkeep and maintenance for a period of five years.
The spokesman further said that the Solar Inverters were more viable and economical as compared to other common inverters used in residential or commercial establishments. He said that initially as many as 720 systems would be given on first come first serve basis. Further information regarding this could be sought from PEDA office located in Sector 33 Chandigarh.
