PUNJAB CONTEMPLATES TO SETUP SPECIAL COURTS FOR PUNJABI DIASPORA

Tota-singh 1* Sukhbir Badal to preside over meeting to discuss issues of NRIs

Chandigarh, May 18: The NRI Affairs Minister Punjab Jathedar Tota Singh said that Punjab will soon have more special courts exclusively for Punjabi Diaspora to redress their issues as the special court, which had been established at Jalandhar, has proved a boon for NRIs.

Disclosing this here today the Minister said that Punjab government was contemplating to establish more special courts for NRIs to be setup in different districts of the state. He said that the state was fully committed to resolve the issues pertaining to Punjabi Diaspora by taking such steps. He said thatPunjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal was personally reviewing the status of welfare initiatives being taken for the facilitation of Punjabi Diaspora.

Jathedar Tota Singh informed that Punjab was also contemplating to bring amendments in land records manual/Land Revenue Act to simplify the procedure of partition of land. He said that the issue of NRIs as proclaimed offender in various offences would also be taken with the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister so that needful steps could be initiated in this regard. He said that the issue of Girdawaris of NRIs will also be discussed to facilitate Punjabi Diaspora by issuing necessary instructions to District Revenue Officials.

The NRIs Affairs Minister said that a meeting to discuss issues of Punjabi Diaspora would be presided over by Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday.
