Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Smt. Indira Gandhi was celebrated in Punjab Congress Bhawan today. Floral tributes were offered at the portrait of Smt. Indira Gandhi by Pradesh Congress General Secretary Smt. Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha, Sh. Surinder Gupta Former President District Congress Committee Faridkot, S. Paramjit Singh Randhawa Secretary PPCC, S. Gurpartap Singh Mann Secretary PPCC, S. Gurwinder Singh Bali Secretary PPCC, S. Jang Bahadur Singh, General Secretary S.C. Department PPCC, Sh. Lakha Ram Davesar Chairman Bazigar Cell PPCC, Sh. Jagdish Bhola and other workers paid glowing tributes to the great leader.
Mrs. Garcha recalled the great services and sacrifice of Ms Gandhi in the service of the nation. She pointed out, the Congress in general and the Nehru-Gandhi family in particular had laid down unparalleled sacrifices for safeguarding the unity and integrity of the country. She pointed out, besides Ms Gandhi, her son Rajiv Gandhi also laid down his life for safeguarding the unity and integrity of the country.
Remembering her contribution for strengthening the economic and military power of the country speakers counted her achievements in Bangladesh war against Pakistan, the first atomic explosion of Pokhran in 1974 and the green revolution of early seventies which will echo in the corridors of history forever.
