PUNJAB CM TO MEET ISRAELI PRESIDENT ON OCT 23 AS PART OF HISTORIC 5-DAY VISIT TO GULF NATION

Chandigarh, October 18: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will meet the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, on October 23 to hold extensive discussions on a wide range of subjects of mutual interest, during his 5-day visit to the Gulf nation, beginning October 21.

The Chief Minister, who will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, will be meeting several ministers and top-ranking officials during the visit. Among those he is scheduled to meet are Israeli Minister for Agriculture Uri Ariel and Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Dr. Yuval Steinitz.

The visit is expected to witness the signing of two important MoUs in the field of water management, which is priority area for the Punjab government. A series of MoUs are also on the agenda between PAU and TAU, as well as the Galilee Institute, as part of the seminar on ‘Investment Opportunities in Punjab’, to be held on October 23.

Giving further details of the visit, an official spokesperson said Captain Amarinder Singh is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Sunday and leave on October 25. He is slated to visit several historic and culturally important sites, as well as some major centres of hi-tech irrigation, agriculture, horticulture and dairy farming. He will also visit the Commonwealth Cemetery for Battle of Haifa martyrs.

Those accompanying the Chief Minister during the visit include Media Advisor to CM Raveen Thukral, ACS Industries Vini Mahajan, ACS Development Viswajeet Khanna, DGP Intelligence Dinkar Gupta and Secretary Water Resources Arunjit Maiglani.
