Chandigarh, Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma today announced that the state BJP would raise the issue of drug menace in Punjab by taking a delegation of the state BJP leaders to the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Home Minister Sh Rajnath Singh.
Thanking the PM Modi for taking up the issue of drugs during his radio programme ‘Man Ki Baat’ today, Kamal Sharma said that with such a firm commitment from the highest level, the menace of drugs that is eating out the youth of the country are set to get wiped out from our nation.
Following PM’s call, the BJP Punjab president also asked the state government to take firm steps to control the drug menace from the state and show more commitment over the issue.
“Though drugs are a nationwide problem but Punjab is hit the most because of its bordering location. Our state is becoming a hub for carrying out drug business for many international drug suppliers. Even as the state government initiated a campaign against drugs but government needs to ensure that the momentum of the campaign should not decline & the state government must take strict action against every individual what if he’s from any political party ” said Kamal Sharma in a statement issued from party office.
He said,“Our government needs to adopt a policy of zero tolerance against the drugs and come what may, we should put in our all strength to launch a decisive war against this menace that has spoiled our future generations.He further said Chief Minister should show political will power to catch the bigwigs involved in Drug Menace”
He also expressed pleasure that PM Sh. Narendra Modi has decided to dedicate next episode of his Radio programme on the issue of drugs. He said that it would go a long way to save our nation especially the Punjab from drugs. “The PM has rightly said that the issue needs to be tackled with a strong determination and I urge the Punjab Government to show the same commitment for the cause,” said the Punjab BJP chief.
