Punjab all set to implement E-stamping system : Majithia

Chandigarh, Punjab Revenue Department took a giant leap towards implementing e-stamping system for registration deeds with the Punjab Cabinet approving “Punjab e-Stamp Rules 2014”.

Disclosing this here today Revenue Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said that this path breaking people friendly initiative has been taken by the Revenue Department in which efforts would be made to involve stamp vendors in the authorized collection centers of e-stamping system to give them an opportunity to enhance their earning. He said that under the system all registration deeds requiring stamps above Rs. 50000 would be covered by e-stamping system and Revenue Department was signing agreement with Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCIL), a central record keeping agency to implement this system.

Finalizing the arrangements for statewide implementation of e-stamping system in a high level meeting, Mr. Majithia said that SHCIL would appoint authorize collection center franchise throughout the state in which stamp vendors would also be involved. Besides this, SHCIL would impart training to the users, Sub-Registrars Officers and Government Officers for effective implementation as well as monitoring of the system. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to upgrade the requisite infrastructure in all sub registrar offices.

Announcing the roll out of e-stamping from November 2014, Mr. Majithia said that in the first phase SAS Nagar, Jalandhar and Bathinda would be covered as Pilot Districts and in December Patiala, Sangrur, Ropar and Amritsar would be covered and by February 2015 on completion of 10 years of SAD-BJP Government entire state would be covered by state of art e-stamping system. Mr. Majithia said that SHCIL was an experienced e-stamping agency that has already successfully implemented e-stamping in 15 other states.
