Punish Barnalas for alliance with Cong, says Badal

Benra (Dhuri),
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today called upon the people to “punish the Barnala family by giving them a crushing defeat in the Dhuri assembly byelection as they have betrayed the Akali Dal.

Addressing an election rally here, Badal said the defeat of Simar Partap was necessary so that no one could dare to betray the party. He urged the people to elect Longowal, terming him a thorough gentleman who followed Panthic ideology.
Talking about development grants Badal said he had already given grants worth lakhs of rupees to Benra village during his Sangat Darshan programme, but he could not announce any grant today due to the model code of conduct. He added he would come after the Longowal’s victory.
The CM said the result of Dhuri seat would have no impact on the SAD-BJP government in the state, but the people should take the decision considering which party would benefit them.
Talking to the media regarding crop loss, Badal said crop insurance was the only solution to the problem which would save the farmers from losses. He said the Centre gave a relief of Rs 3,500 per care for crop damage, but he had demanded Rs 15,000 per acre.
