Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki sworn in as 34th governor of Punjab

Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solani, Governor of Haryana today sworn in as Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh in addition to his own duties. The Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. Chief Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar, administered the oath of office to Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar at Punjab Raj Bhavan.

Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki signed the oath form that was counter signed by the Chief Justice. Later, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki signed separate charge reports, both as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh.

Earlier, the Governor designate arrived at the special pandal of Punjab Raj Bhavan in a ceremonial procession. He was accompanied by the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The Chief Secretary of Punjab, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal after seeking permission to start the ceremony, read out the warrants of appointment of Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki as the Governor of Punjab. Later, the ceremony was declared closed by the Chief Secretary. After the ceremony, the Governor in a procession proceeded towards the saluting base. The Governor ascended the Saluting Base and took the Salute from the full contingent of PAP. The Punjab Police Band played the National Anthem. Later, the Governor inspected the Guard of Honour.

Immediately after the swearing in ceremony, the Governor was CONGRATULATEDby the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Chief Minister Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar. Prominent among others, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat and Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Member Parliament Kiron Kher, Judges from Punjab and Haryana High Court, Adviser to the Administrator Mr. Vijay Kumar Dev, DGP Punjab SS Saini and other dignitaries from Punjab and Haryana were also present in the function.
