Chandigarh, 14 November : The present crisis through which Punjab is passing is because of un-ethical control of Badals on Gurudwaras and the Jathedars through SGPC. This was stated by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa MLA dera Baba Nanak in a press note issued today. He said that the Badals have become modern era Mahants and there is an urgent need to free the Gurduwaras from the clutches of these Mahants, who were controlling Sikh Shrines before formation of SGPC, as Badal are doing in present time. “Badals are electing SGPC president by sending an ‘envelop’, appointing and removing Jathedars of Takhts as per the political suitability, forcing Jathedar to take religious decisions as per political desires of SAD, thus turned the Sikh Body as an offshoot of Akali Dal. He reminded that Sukhbir Badal had called a meeting of SGPC in first week of October. He had no authority to preside over such a meeting of a religious body. The SGPC is in an institution which represents all Sikhs having different political and social alignments, thus Sukhbir Badal has no right to call meeting of SGPC members. SGPC doesn’t represent the Shiromani Akali Dal, but it represents the Sikhs in general, he said.
He said that there is urgent need to free the SGPC from interference for Akali Dal for better administration of Gurdwaras and propagation of Sikhism. He also took a dig at Sukhbir and questioned his sudden discovery that he is nationalist and secular. He asked Sukhbir, where was his secularity when Virsa Singh Valtoha, your MLA said on the floor of the Vidhan Sabha “I was a terrorist, I am a terrorist and I will remain a terrorist”? Where was his nationalism when you ran away to USA during terrorism period? It was the Congress party which had fought the terrorists and many of our leaders fell to the bullets. He reminded that it was SAD who had appointed S. Ranjit Singh as Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht in 1990. He further added that your Shiromani Akali Dal is facing de-recognition in the Delhi High Court because your party has two constitutions. One for Political Party and one for religious party. This clearly shows that even your party is not secular, what to talk of your individual stand.
Reacting to the statement of Sukhbir Singh Badal that it was Pakistan based ISI and Congress which was behind the recent crises, he said that Sukhbir Singh Badal seems to have given this statement after consuming something. Randhawa posed him the following questions:
Who was behind the purchase of spurious pesticides which lead to a massive anger of farmers built up against your Government? Congress?
Who issued the Hukamnama to pardon the head of Dera Sirsa? Congress?
Who ordered and who fired on the peaceful protestors at Kotkapura which lead to an unprecedented wave of anger against your government? Congress?
Who was behind the reversal of the Hukamnama pertaining to Dera Chief? Congress?
When the Panj Payaras summoned the five Jathedars, who suspended them? Congress?
Shri Randhawa said that everyone knows that the above issues were the main reasons for the current crises in Punjab and all these lead to your doorstep. Then how can you blame the Pakistan agency or Congress for these administrative failures of Government in which you are Deputy CM, Home Minister and your alliance partner is ruling in centre.
In fact the problem has risen because you had started assuming yourself to be even powerful than the almighty. Being an Amritdhari Sikh and firm believer in the almighty I feel that time has come for natural destruction of the arrogance in which you and your party are completely drunk.
