Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan has informed disgraced former player Salman Butt that he would receive a letter in regard of completing his rehabilitationprogramme within the next couple of days.
On Monday, a brief meeting between Khan and Butt was held at the PCB offices during which the player expressed his availability for the rehab programme to get himself cleared for domestic cricket in the first phase and then for international contests.
Butt’s suspension could be reduced to five years, provided that he admits his role in spot-fixing scam besides completing the rehab programme, The Dawn reported.
Butt admitted his role before media last year but is yet to complete the rehab programme.
Speculations are rife that in the remaining rehab programme Butt is required to address any PCB team, during which he would express his hate against corrupt practices in the game, and would admit his fault.
Butt would also advise the members of that team not to get involved in such practices, following which, he might also be cleared both by the PCB and the ICC to play domestic cricket , the report added.
