Chandigarh, Representatives different religions and including a section of Sant Samaj and some Panthic organisations today lashed out against the Punjab government for its failure to crack cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
It was decided to unanimously support the resolutions adopted at November 10 Sarbat Khalsa and mobilise people to launch peaceful agitation for the release of Sikh prisoners.
The meeting adopted six resolutions.
The first resolution stated that Guru Granth Sahib was Guru personified and its security must be ensured against sacrilege. Every gurdwara should have one granthi with two assistants. CCTV cameras should be installed in every gurdwara. Open sale of religious scriptures should be stopped except from authorised shops and record of such sales must be maintained.
It was proposed that committees of youth should be organised at local level for propagation of Sikh thought.
It was decided to extent every help to other religions to check incidents of sacrilege.
Those who attended included Prof Manjit Singh, Karnail Singh Peermohammad, Jatinder Singh Issru, Bahadur Singh Rahon, Harmanjit Singh Rajpura, Swami Ashutosh, Swami Sarmeshanand, Roop Kalyani, Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui, Ajmal Khan, Amar Singh Chahal, Jasbir Singh and Shahzad Hussain.
