Pakistan Condemns US Drone Killing 10

Islamabad, The Pakistan government Wednesday condemned as “violation of its sovereignty” US drone strikes which left 10 people dead in the country’s tribal region of North Waziristan.

Pakistan regards such strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Radio Pakistan quoted the country’s Foreign Office spokesperson as saying in the evening.

The official also said that Pakistan believes with a decisive action being taken against terrorist elements in North Waziristan, there is no need for such strikes. “We, therefore, urge for a cessation of such strikes.”

The drone Wednesday targeted a vehicle in Datta Khel area, leaving 10 people dead, including foreigners, Geo News reported citing sources.

The Pakistan Army has been carrying out a security operation Zarb-e-Azb since June 15 in North Waziristan against local and foreign militants.

The operation was initiated following a brazen militant attack on the international airport in Karachi, a port city, and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators.
