Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, president, Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali), today alleged that the support of Sirsa dera and “secret pact” with the Congress ensured the Badal couple to win their seats in the state.
He questioned SAD president Sukhbir Badal on what basis he was claiming it a victory of the party by winning just two seats.
Brahmpura alleged, “Sukhbir Badal and his wife are celebrating their victory. They say people forgot sacrilege. I ask them what are they celebrating after losing eight of 10 seats? Even their stalwarts lost. They managed to retain the little with the blessings of the dera, money power and due to understanding with Captain. Is it winning or losing?”
Brahmpura said his party would contest both the SGPC and the Assembly elections. He said all fringe parties joining together was the only way forward for an alliance in 2022.
He also condemned Sukhpal Khaira’s decision not to allow Bibi Pramjit Kaur Khalra to contest as Independent.
Stating that the sentiment against Navjot Sidhu within the Congress was likely to turn negative in the coming days, Brahmpuura invited Sidhu to join the alliance.
