Online payments amounting to Rs.2000 crore released to farmers for paddy purchase till date

Chandigarh The Punjab government has made online payments to the tune of Rs. 2000 crore till date to the farmers against the purchase of their crop by different procurement agencies during the ongoing paddy procurement in the state. The payment has been made regularly in accordance with the guidelines fixed by the government of India.

Stating this here today a spokesman of the government said that a payment amounting to Rs. 620.90 crore was released last evening to 11,320 farmers.

Meanwhile 40, 00,463 tonnes of paddy has been procured till last evening. Out of the total paddy procured, 38, 84,096 (99. 6%) tonnes was procured by the government agencies and private agencies procured 1, 16,267 tonnes (2.9%). Out of the government agencies, PUNGRAIN procured 11,32,456 tonnes(29.2%), MARKFED procured 9,35,387 tonnes (24.1%), PUNSUP 8,60,798 tonnes (22.2%), PSWC 3,85,293 (9.9%) and PAFC 4,08,887 tonnes(10.5%). The central government agency FCI could procure 1, 61,275 tonnes (2.9%) of paddy till last evening.
