Of 278 candidates in fray, only 25 women

There are more than 47 per cent woman voters in the state but when it comes to contesting the elections, a majority of them are either unwilling or denied the chance.

Of the total 278 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the state, just 25 are women, which constitutes to 9 per cent.

Notably, the state has 2,07,81,211 voters, of which 98,29,916 are women.
