TORONTO — North American stock markets pulled back in late-morning trading after a series of record-setting highs this week.
The S&P/TSX composite index lost 23.71 points at 15,840.46 after closing Thursday at a record high for a fifth day in a row.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 61.97 points to 20,557.80 and the S&P 500 dropped 5.03 points at 2,342.19. The Nasdaq composite slipped 0.99 of a point at 5,813.91.
The April crude oil contract fell 34 cents to US$53.41 per barrel, while the March contract for natural gas gained 1.4 cents at US$2.868 per mmBtu.
The April gold contract slipped US$1.60 to US$1,240.00 and the March copper contract fell two cents to US$2.6985 per pound.
The Canadian dollar fell 0.20 of a cent at 76.25 cents US.
