No shortage of urea in the state : Tota Singh

1 (3)Chandigarh, The Agriculture Minister of Punjab Jathedar Tota Singh today said that there was no shortage of urea for the sowing of wheat and other seasonal crops in the State.

Giving the details he said that in the last three days seventy thousand tonnes of urea has arrived in the state. He said that IFFCO has fifty thousand tonne excess urea in the stock . He also asked the officials to check the pesticide stores to check the illegal holding of fertilizers, if any. Besides that it was also decided to aware the farmers about not to purchase any other thing forcefully with fertilizer and pesticides, and the report the same to the authorities.

Expressing satisfaction over the distribution of wheat seed in recent season, Jathedar Tota Singh said that agricultural officers should visit the fields and advise the farming community to save the crop from diseases.

The Agriculture Minister ordered the officials of department to deposit utilization certificates of various centrally sponsored schemes within a week so that the state government could put the case for next grant for diversification plan.

Reviewing the implementation of ongoing agriculture schemes in a meeting here, the Minister said that Punjab Government would push the case for remaining 254 crore to run the schemes like ATMA.
