No shoes hurled, says Tota Singh

p7Moga, July 21
Agriculture and NRI Affairs Minister Tota Singh has denied the reports that stones were pelted and shoes were hurled at a delegation of the Punjab government led by him during a function at a gurdwara at Richmond Hill in the Queens Borough area in the US.
He admitted that protests were held outside the gurdwara across the main road, but claimed that no incident of throwing stones or shoes took place.
He said the news item based on a press note released by New York-based attorney Gurpatwant Singh Panun on behalf of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an American organisation, was “false and mischievous to malign the image of the SAD”.
“The media should have verified the facts. I will file a defamation suite against those who have tarnished my and my party’s image in the appropriate court of law in the US as well as in India,” he said.
Mohan Singh Khatra, chairman, managing committee of the gurdwara where the function was held, said no such incident took place. He said the New York police had provided security to the leader and there was no question of any security lapse
