No HIL next year, to return in 2019

After five editions, there will be no Hockey India League next year and the tournament will return in 2019, Hockey India said today. The tournament’s Governing Committee, comprising representatives of Hockey India and other stakeholders, has unanimously decided to schedule the next edition of league in 2019 instead of next January-February. There were reports that unhappy franchisees and financial concerns may see the end of the league after just five seasons. However, Mushtaque Ahmad, Hockey India secretary, clarified that this will only be a temporary discontinuation.
