Nitish Kumar to be sworn in as Bihar CM tomorrow

Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as chief minister on Friday — the leader’s third term in the position. Kumar will be sworn in at 2 pm at Gandhi Maidan on Friday.
With several leaders expected to attend the ceremony, 2,000-odd security officials will be deployed at the venue.
There will be two canopy-shaped dais for VVIP guests and those given SPG protection. Nitish and his new council of ministers and VVIPs will occupy the main dais, while newly elected MLAs will be given another dais.
A separate gallery will accommodate women attending the ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not the event due to other engagements. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu will stand in for the Central Government.
A guest list released by Chief Minister’s Office include Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Nine chief ministers — West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee, Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal, Uttar Pradesh’s Akhilesh Yadav, Himachal Pradesh’s Virbhadra Singh, Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah, Assam’s Tarun Gogoi, Sikkim’s PK Chamling, Manipur’s O Ibobi Singh and Arunachal Pradesh’s Nabam Tuki — will attend, as will Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI’s D Raja of CPI and DMK’s MK Stalin. BJP’s ally Shiv Sena will send two Maharashtra Ministers Ram Das Kadam and Subhash Desai to the function.
Congress leaders Sheila Dixit, Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Ajit Jogi, Raj Babbar, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik)’s national president Babu Lal Marandi and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Hemant Soren, National Lok Dal president Ajit Singh and former Union Minister and NCP leader Praful Patel will also attend the event.
INLD’s Abhay Chautala, BBM leader Prakash Ambedkar, eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani, and former journalist HK Dua have also confirmed their presence.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad and JD (U) president Sharad Yadav will also attend the event.
The chief minister will host a high tea for eminent guests at his official home after the event.
