NHAI takes action on Punjab Minister’s complaint

Chandigarh, 2 June:

Taking immediate action on the complaint by Mr Vijay Inder Singla ,Public Works Minister Punjab about the irregularities at Laddowal Toll Plaza in Punjab and the non-cooperative behaviour of the toll operator, NHAI issues notice to M/s Soma Enterprises. The toll operator has been asked to mend his ways and provide proper services lest NHAI may take over the toll plaza.

It is pertinent to mention that to redress the public woes pertaining to congestion at toll plazas and the serpentine queues leading to wastage of public time and money,Mr Singla had called all the toll operators of Punjab in a meeting at Chandigarh , two days ago , wherein no one from M/s Soma Enterprises , operating the Laddowal toll plaza had even bothered to come.

Minister informed Yuvraj Malik, Secretary NHAI about the Phagwara and Jalandhar Flyover Projects on NH1 undertaken by the same company have been hanging in fire for years due to lacksidal approach of the company. As a result, NHAI assured immediate look into the case and reaffirmed that if need be the projects may be withdrawn from the erring Company.

Further, the issue of constructing ring roads to decongest the major cities of Punjab including Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar was discussed. He also pursued the issues pertaining to various roads, Highways, economic corridor and expressways in Punjab.

Interestingly, Mr Vijay Inder Singla Public Works Minister Punjab has met the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) authorities of Government of India for the second time in a period of over 1 month after joining as Public Works Minister.
