Washington: Telsa Motors has launched a new line of battery system Telsa Energy that can power homes, businesses, and even utilities.
According to the Verge, the system is divided into two products, Powerwall and Powerpack.
Powerwall is a home battery system that comes in a 10 kWh version for 3,500 dollars or a 7 kWh model for 3,000 dollars excluding installation and the inverter.
The Powerpack has been described as an “infinitely scalable system” that can work for businesses, in industrial applications, and even public utility companies.
Telsa Motors’ CEO Elon Musk said that their goal is to change how the world uses energy at an extreme scale.
The system is connected to the internet and can be used to create “smart microgrids” and also used as a redundancy system, or potentially allow a home to go off the power grid entirely.
