ADAMPUR (JALANDHAR), July 16: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Sing today said that during the 47 years in public life he had never seen so much anger against anyone as the one prevailing against the Badal family currently all over Punjab.
“You may soon see people running after them and they will find it difficult to hide themselves”, he said while addressing a well attended public meeting organised by senior party leader and ex-MP Satnam Kainth here today.
He said, the Badals were themselves to be blamed as they had never thought beyond their family. He said, Badal has never ever bothered about Punjab’s problems as he could never look beyond his personal interests. “What he has been interested in his robbing and looting the state and creating his own wealth”, he said, while adding, “now his aim appeared to be construct five and seven star hotels in india and abroad which cost over Rs 1000 crores”. He said, as if this was not enough, now they have resorted to supply of synthetic drugs which has ruined an entire generation.
Referring to Badal’s failure to timely lift wheat and paddy of the farmers, the former Chief Minister said, “while we procured the crops within two days, they have not been able to do it even in two months”. He said, either the wheat had not been procured or the farmers had not been paid. He said, even the FCI has stopped purchasing the crops and Badal has never bothered to raise the matter with the government of india.
On Badal’s statement at the Chief Ministers’ conference that the farmers’ consent must be taken before acquiring their land, Capt Amarinder said, he (Mr Badal) was practising double stands. “Did you take the consent of the Gobindpura farmers in Mansa when you took away their land for the Indiabulls power plant?” he asked, while adding, while the power company needed just about 1200 acres of land, Badal took away 12000 acres of land from the farmers.
Asserting that he had special relationship with Adampur as from here he had started the march to oust Badals by winning the byelection by six votes, Capt Amarinder congratulated Satnam Kainth for organising a successful public meeting and expressed his gratitude to the people who attended it. He exhorted upon them to resolve and ensure that the Akalis were shown the door in 2017 elections.
