National Lok Adalat to be held on December 6 at all levels

Chandigarh,  To dispose old cases with the objective to reduce the pendency of cases in courts, a National Lok Adalat is going to be held on December 6, 2014 at all levels from Supreme Court of India to Sub Divisional courts throughout India.
Divulging the details, a spokesman of Punjab Legal Services Authority said that fresh institution cases can also be taken up in National Lok Adalat. He said any litigant can get his case fixed for disposal in Lok Adalat by moving an application in the court where his/her case is pending or before CJM/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority in each District of Punjab. He said that applicant can get more information by dialling a toll free helpline no. 1968.
He further said that no court fee is required for fixing a case in the Lok Adalat. The court fee already affixed in a case is returned back to the litigant once his case is disposed in the Lok Adalat. The Spokesman said that many cases can be taken up in Lok Adalat including criminal compoundable cases, negotiable instrument cases u/s 138, matrimonial/family courts cases, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, civil cases-rent, bank recovery, easementary rights, debit recovery tribunal cases, revenue cases, MNREGA, electricity & water bills, cases relating to sales tax, income tax, services matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, forest act cases, railway claims, disaster compensation, pre litigation matters, Misc. appeals, criminal appeals etc.
