National Livestock Championship and Livestock Expo to be inaugurated today

* All arrangements in place

Sri Muktsar Sahib, The Punjab government’s animal husbandry, fishery and dairy development board is holding National Livestock Championship and Livestock Expo 2015 from January 8 to January 12 at Sri Muktsar Sahib. At the inaugural ceremony the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal would be chief guest, while the Deputy CM Mr Sukbir Badal would preside over the function with the animal husbandry minister Mr Gulzar Sibgh Ranike and guest of honor would be Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr Desraj Dhugga.

The secretary of animal husbandry, fishery and dairy development Mr VK Meena gave this information here today after conducting a meeting with the district administration. The Deputy Commissioner Mr Jaskiran Singh, SSP Mr Kuldeep Singh Chahal and director animal husbandry department Mr HS Sandhwa were also present.

He said that on the first day canine competitions would be held and the winners would be given rs 5 lacs prize. Besides this the best male calf nukra, best female calf nukra, best male calf Marwari, best female calf Marwari and other competitions of the milk yielding animals would be held.

The championship would witness competitions under 64 different categories including that of horses, cows, buffaloes, goat, dogs, cocks and ducks and the milk yielding competitions of best cows, buffaloes and goats too would be held. Also the dancing horses and camels would steal the show. Nihang Singh and students would present horse riding and other things.

In collaboration with the PHD Chamber of Commerce around 150 Indian and foreign companies would put up their stalls at the Livestock Expo 2015 and arrangements for all these have been completed.

On the lines of Progressive Agriculture Summit specia seminars would be held from January 9 to January 11 at this event wherein scientists would address and interact with farmers. On January 9 the morning session would be dedicated to goat and pig rearing and the afternoon seminar would be dedicated to the care of animals. On Jan 10 the morning session would deal with animal diets and the event sesson would talk about dairy farming. Similarly on jan 11, the morning sesson would be based on fish culture and the evening session would talk about food processing.

The Deputy Commissioner Jaskiran Singh said that all arrangements have bene completed. PHD Chamber of Commerce is also helping in the Livestock Expo 2015. Prominent among others present in meeting included ADC (general) Captain Karnail Singh, SP NPS Sidhu, AC UT Harpreet Singh Sudan, SDM Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, SDM Malout Bikramjit Shergill, assistant commissioner general Manjit Singh Cheema, District Transport Officer Mr Hardeep Singh, regional director PHD Chamber of Commerce Deepak Sharma, deputy director animal husbandry Dr Kulwant Singh .
