Amritsar,Legal aides of former Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh today approached the SGPC, seeking a copy of his appointment letter which has been sought by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The case pertains to Nandgarh being sacked by the SGPC. Nandgarh’s aide Parminderpal Singh Randhawa met SGPC secretary Manjeet Singh in this regard.
The SGPC officials said they would follow the court orders. Nandgarh was unceremoniously removed by the SGPC executive committee apparently in view of his opposition to the Akali Dal’s alleged attempt to revert to the Bikrami calendar for observing Sikh events. Nandgarh is a known supporter of the original Nanakshahi calendar.
