Monsoon Delight Jamun Is Here, But BEWARE As Overeating Can Cause THIS Painful Condition

New Delhi: Jamun, or Java Plum is one of the most eagerly-awaited monsoon berry fruit, which is not just delicious but is packed with various health benefits.

While it has a sweet-tangy taste, Jamun leaves a strong aftertaste on your palate and is considered the best fruit for those suffering from type-2 diabetes as it helps balance blood sugar levels.

Loaded with compounds like anthocyanins, ellagic acid, glucoside, isoquercitrin, kaemferol, and myricetin – all of which are antioxidants, Jamun is a super low-calorie alkaloid loaded with protein, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Apart from being a complete benefit for diabetics, consumption of Jamun also helps regulate bowel movements, is a great diuretic, and controls high cholesterol levels. 1

Side effects of eating too many Jamuns

However, like everything else, too much consumption of this fruit can also be detrimental to health.

According to health experts, various studies have been conducted on seasonal fruit that found that overeating can cause flatulence, delayed digestion, laryngitis, inflammation in the lungs, and emphysema as side effects.

Constipation

If you eat a lot of Jamun in one go or go overboard with the fruit, doctors say vitamin C in the fruit causes bowel restriction, leading to severe constipation.

Considered an extremely painful condition, constipation usually occurs when waste or stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract or cannot be eliminated effectively from the rectum, which may cause the stool to become hard and dry.

Causes blood sugar imbalance

Even though it is completely safe for diabetics, too much jamun consumption causes an imbalance in blood sugar levels, leading to fatigue, irritability, weakness, blurred vision, headaches, frequent urination, and increased thirst.

These signs are your body’s way of telling you that your blood sugar levels are not within the normal range.

Acne

Antioxidants benefit the skin by preventing or slowing aging and cell damage. People consume antioxidants in food and supplements, or they may use antioxidant skin care products.

Jamun is loaded with antioxidants, however, overeating them causes pimples and rashes.
