Mohali: DC reviews ongoing campaign to update Aadhaar card

SAS Nagar, April 2, 2023: Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain appealed to the people who have not updated their Aadhaar card from the last eight years to update their Aadhaar card immediately.

Reviewing the ongoing campaign to update Aadhaar card in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that there is a need to update identity and address in Aadhaar card every 8 to 10 years. Because of this, those who have obtained Aadhaar card before the year 2015, it is necessary to update their Aadhaar card with bio-metric update.

She said that this unique exercise has been started to further strengthening of Aadhaar card. Under this initiate, documents related to proof of Identity (POI) and proof of address (POA) are being updated.

She said that these service are being provided in all Seva Kenders and Aadhar camps which are being organised in all the villages of the district in a phased manner.

She further said that the fee for updating Aadhaar card is Rs 50, but this fee has been waived off provided the applicant applies for updation through online mode till June 14.

Aashika Jain has given special emphasis on Aadhaar card’s enrolment of children aged 0-5 years. Similarly, they have also asked to complete the mandatory biometric update for children between 5 to 15 years.

Deputy Commissioner informed that on the guidelines of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann camps are being conducted in various villages for the updation of Aadhar Cards.

These camps were started from March 11 and organized about two dozen villages. Aadhar updation has been initiated at the village level is the special feature of the campaign.

Aashika Jain said that the government is providing facilities by reaching the doorstep of the people through these camps. She appealed to the people to take maximum benefit from such camps.
