* Youth congress workers detained after protests against the proposed
Sec 66A IT Act by Modi Government
New Delhi / Chandigarh, Modi Government should immediately take this section 66A of Information technology act back as this harms the very genuine user, which is mostly the youth of the country. Modi Government is now giving consent to this act. This is evident from the very recent affidavit submitted by the government law officers in the Hon Supreme court saying that advisory issued by the UPA government in 2013, has all the safeguards in it, thus giving direct consent to the Section 66A of the Information Technology act which empowers the police to arrest people for social media posts.
Lambasting at the Modi government for adopting double standards S Raja Amrinder Warring, President Indian Youth Congress and MLA Gidderbaha said that the Modi government has categorically given affidavit in the court saying the advisory issued by the government in 2013 would ensure that the honest and legal use of cyber space does not result into harassment of any citizens of the country while they were the one who opposed when UPA tabled it in the parliament. They also requested the court to dismiss the pleas which are pending against the Section 66 of IT act. The section provides for up to three years in jail for sending offensive or annoying messages online on the social media. Youth congress at that moment when Mr kapil Sibal brought this bill then also opposed it and now also it is strictly against this act because it harms the common user of facebbok, twiiter and whats app which is the youth of this country.
Raja said that already Modi Government has taken U Turn in the proposed land acquisition bill to be placed in the parliament. Now they are going ahead with some amendments in it which the congress party is opposing. All these are pro people and pro farmer policies, which were initiated by UPA government under the dynamic vision of Smt Sonia Gandhi, Congress President and Sh Rahul Gandhi. Youth congress will take these issues to the people that how Modi Government is dodging the people of country.
Later Raja along with hundreds of youth congress workers marched towards the residence of Union Information and Technology minister where they were detained and taken to Chanakaya puri police station. Youth congress workers also burnt the effigy of the union minister, Delhi police used light lathi charge and water cannons to disperse the crowd inspite of having legal permission to protest outside the residence of Union Information and Technology Minister.
