Mike Duffy trial adjourned in Ottawa until November

ca3OTTAWA – The Conservatives no longer have to deal with fresh testimony from the Mike Duffy fraud trial until after the federal election.
Ontario Court Justice Charles Vaillancourt has adjourned the trial until November 18th, almost a full month after Canadians go to the polls.
The trial was slated to continue until the rest of the week before going on hiatus.
But the health of a witness and a personal issue involving Duffy’s lawyer prompted Vaillancourt to call an early halt to the proceedings.
The Tories former director of issues management Chris Woodcock was on the stand again Tuesday.
Defence lawyer Donald Bayne has been questioning Woodcock on the media messaging he drew up around Duffy’s contentious living expenses in 2013.
Bayne has been trying to establish that Duffy was being forced into positions by powerful staffers in the prime minister’s office.
