Chandigarh, July 13:
The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed the Police Commissioner, Amritsar to probe the matter thoroughly which pertains to the rape of a dalit girl in a private college of Amritsar.
Disclosing this here today, the Chairman of the Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha said that a girl who had gone to the college to seek admission was raped by a youth who offered her a glass of juice while she was filling the form. Afterwards when the girl became unconscious, the youth committed the ghastly act. The police didn’t initiate any action as the youth belonged to a well-off family.
Mr. Bagha said that acting swiftly in the matter, the commission has instructed the Police Commissioner, Amritsar to submit the complete report in this regard within 1 week to the commission.
