Mansa ‘gangrape’: probe finds flaws in victim’s claims

Mansa, The Mansa police have claimed that the woman who alleged gangrape by four men here on Monday has given fake details in the FIR.

The 33-year-old woman had earlier complained that she was a nurse working in Safdarjung hospital in Delhi and had come here to treat a patient known to her.

As soon as the police arrested two of the accused it seemed another open and shut case. But the recent investigations have put the police in a fix. The police took the woman back to her relatives in Delhi on Wednesday night.

SSP Bhupinder Singh Khattara said, “The woman claimed that she is a nurse working in Safdarjung hospital in Delhi and came here on Monday. But after alleging gangrape she refused to undergo the medical test. Our team on Wednesday took her to Delhi and handed her over to her relatives. She didn’t even tell us about her family. Most of the details given in the FIR are fake. She is divorced and is not working as nurse in any hospital.”

The victim had also claimed that she was part of the medical team that had nursed the December 16 rape victim. The police said they were also working on other angles. “Though the background details of the woman are different from what was claimed by her in the FIR, we have not ruled out the possibility of gangrape. The evidence collected from the crime spot and the ongoing investigations indicate to this,” Khattara said.

Meanwhile, two of the accused are absconding while the other two are in police remand.
