Chandigarh, March 4: People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal today lashed out sharply against Aam Aadmi Party’s state unit President Sucha Singh Chhotepur and asked him when did he apply to join AAP.
Reacting strongly to Chhotepur’s comment that people like Manpreet had no place in AAP, he took him to task for making baseless and unfounded remarks and that too to hypothetical queries. He called upon Chhotepur to apologise for making such statements which manifested his petty and poor thinking.
“We have our own party which is founded on the principles and doctrine whose focus is the common man. PPP hit the political scene much before AAP. Chhotepur should know that it is AAP which has copied his party’s agenda so far as the empowerment of common man and end to the VIP culture is concerned. I am quoting just two instances. Chhotepur should first go through our documents which we had released at the time this party was announced. This also includes our symbolism. Winning or losing an election is a secondary issue”, he added.
He made is absolutely clear that he had no intention to join AAP and had never approached any leader for this purpose either in Punjab or Delhi. In case Chhotepur had any information, he should come out with it He asserted his party would continue to charter its own course in the Punjab political stream as it was his party’s agenda to focus on pro-people politics and bring about change in the quality of life of the people at every level and not just economic. In the broader context, it was the agenda that was more important than winning a couple of seats in the short run.
He warned Chhotepur against resorting to such cheap politics by dragging his name in the issues that were non-existent besides tendering unconditional apology.
