Manan Vohra’s strokeful 143 went in vain as Railways derailed Punjab’s bid to reach the knockouts of the Vijay Hazare Tournament with a four-wicket win here today. Vohra smashed a brilliant 143 off 148 balls, studded with fours and two sixes. Yuvraj Singh (35) gave him good support as Punjab posted a challenging 280/8.
In reply, Railways rode on Arindam Ghosh’s unbeaten 89 to knock off the target in 49.2 overs.
In Group D, Jharkhand thrashed Jammu & Kashmir by 97 runs. After posting a daunting 296, Jharkhand wrapped up J&K for a paltry 199 in 46 overs. Shubham Pundir (74) was the top-scorer for J&K. Pacer Ashish Kumar returned impressive figures of 3/23 for Jharkhand. In the last Group A tie, Haryana thrashed a hapless Assam by 86 runs.
