Chandigarh, July 17
Rural Development Minister Sikander Singh Maluka held meetings in Vancouver, Canada, to woo NRIs for the upcoming 2017 Assembly elections. Maluka also urged them to invest in Punjab.
Maluka’s media officer Rattan Sharma said the minister informed residents of Vancouver about the progress made by the state in various sectors. Sharma said Maluka would visit other parts of Canada also.
The NRIs helped the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) win four seats in the Lok Sabha elections last year by contributing to party funds. Therefore, the SAD too is seeking their support. The Congress is also trying to woo NRIs in view of the 2017 elections.
