MALUKA DIRECTS DCS TO DECIDE PANCHAYATS ELECTION PETITIONS UNDER FIXED TIME FRAME

Chandigarh June 4: Punjab Panchayats Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka today issued directions to all Deputy Commissioners to resolve all Panchayats election related petitions lying pending in their respective offices within the stipulated time frame set under Punjab State Election Commission Act.

Issuing directions in this regard Mr. Maluka said it has come to the notice of Department that several petitions pertaining to Panchayat elections were pending in the different courts of Deputy Commissioners, which should be adjudicated within the period of six months. He also asked for quick and expeditious adjudication and disposal of such petitions.

The Minister informed that as per the provisions of Punjab State Election Commission Act, the time frame of six months had been sanctioned for adjudication of such a petition.

Mr. Maluka also directed all Deputy Commissioners to submit monthly status report by 10th of every month regarding the disposal and pendency of the election petitions in the office of Financial Commissioner Rural Development and Panchayats.
