Sri Muktsar Sahib, December 31: Shiromani Akali Dal President & Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that the Maghi conference of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would see historic gathering never before witnessed in the state and the conference would be the beginning of electoral battle for 2017 general assembly elections. He also said only those elements are thronging Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who are not getting their place anywhere else.
Addressing party workers here at Bhai Maha Singh Diwan Hall as part of taking stock of preparations of Maghi conference, Mr. Badal said this year’s conference would be the grandest in scale in comparison to the rallies of opposition parties and keeping in view this aspect, SAD has selected a large and spacious venue near village Rupana. Expressing confidence, he said the Maghi conference would herald the bugle of battle for 2017 elections.
The Deputy CM further said the SAD is a party of Punjabis which has always stood by them through their every thick and thin. Buoyed by the success of sadbhavna rallies, he said these rallies have amply proven that the people of Punjab stood shoulder to shoulder with the SAD whereas the Congress party has left the field after organizing just one rally.
Replying to the queries of mediapersons, the SAD President said only those people are joining the ranks of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who are not being paid attention to and not being listened to anywhere else. In a scathing attack on AAP,Mr Badal said the AAP has not only completely failed to run the affairs of Delhi efficiently but also ran away from fulfilling its poll promises. He said the AAP leaders who were talking big about austerity stand had been totally exposed as they are now enjoying the fruits of power instead of taking steps to mitigate the problems of the people of Delhi whereas, the common folk are devoid of even the basic necessities of life.
Mr. Badal said the congress party had never ever cared for safeguarding the interests of Punjab. Taking the Congress further to task, he said that its previous government has done nothing to tackle the problem of waterlogging but the SAD government has commenced projects after careful planning to solve this problem in the South Western districts of the state and the efforts have started bearing fruit. He elaborated that the actual development of the state has taken place with only SAD government at the helm.
Talking about the development plank, the Deputy CM said in the coming one year, a sum of Rs. 6000 crore would bespent on rural development alone. Adding further, he said that Rs. 30-40 crore would be spent on developing every assembly segment and the projects would commence soon. He announced that in the next 5 years, all the villages of the state would have CC flooring done on the streets. Similarly, the projects of infrastructural development in 140 cities of the state are also going on the war footing.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister also visited the potential spots for the Maghi conference. He was accompanied by the President of Malwa Zone-1 Youth Akali Dal Mr. Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi. On the occasion, CPS Mantar Singh Brar, MLA Gurtej Singh Ghuriana, O.S.D. to Deputy CM Charanjit Singh Brar, Satinderjit Singh Manta, Chairman Tejinder Singh Middhukhera, President Lambi Circle Avtar Singh Wanvala, O.S.D. to CM Gurcharan Singh, Parambans Singh Bunty Romana, Ex-MLA Parkash Singh Bhatti, Vardev Singh Maan, Chairman Manjinder Singh Bittu, Jagmohan Singh Fattanwala, Veerpal Kaur Tarmala, Robin Brar, President Municipal Council Harpal Singh Bedi, Ram Singh Pappy, Harmesh Khuddian, Jagdev Singh Bhullar, Jathedar Navtej Singh Kaouni, Heera Singh Chirewaan, Parminder Singh Pasha, Pappy Tarmala, Rajinder Pal Singh Brar and Binder Gogeaana were also present.
