Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addresses Indian diaspora in Austria

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the Indian diaspora in Austria on Friday.

In his address to the public, Birla stated that India and Austria share friendly and cordial relations and that the two nations have a long history of cooperation in multilateral institutions on a variety of international issues.

Praising the tireless efforts of Indians living in Austria, he said that the credit for the growth of trade between the two countries also goes to the Indian community.

He further said that the Indians in Austria are goodwill ambassadors for their motherland.

In terms of their contribution, Om Birla stated that the Indian diaspora has served both their native and adopted lands by their sterling contributions in numerous disciplines in Austria.

Birla stated that the Indian diaspora represents India’s cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity while residing overseas.

“These citizens act as India’s soft power in international diplomacy,” said the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Speaking about the Covid-19 pandemic, Birla said that both global cooperation and national action are required to deal with international issues.

He expressed happiness that the Indian community has not only made a significant contribution to their adopted homeland, Austria but also fulfilled their responsibilities by donating PPE kits and oxygen concentrators in their country of birth.

Om Birla further said that the Indian community has established a mini-India abroad.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned a new and self-reliant India through the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

“India is rapidly moving forward on that path,” said Om Birla.
